London Marathon

As some of you may know, last April, when the London marathon ran by my house, I (Kevin) thought it looked like good fun, so I put my name in the Lottery for 2009. After completely forgetting about it, I received a notification in the post in October notifying me that I have won a place in the marathon.
Prior to this, the furthest I've ever run is about 5 miles. Four months later, I've now run 13.1 miles, which is equivelent to a 1/2 marathon. In two months, I need to double that distance. Hopefully with your support, I'll keep motivated to train and be able to complete the marathon in under 4 hours.

Snow in London!

Look at all that snow on top of our recycling bins!

We had a snow day today in London. No rail or bus services and only limited underground services. We had a lovely day in the snow at Greenwich Park where loads of children were playing in the show as hundreds of schools were closed today due to the severe weather warning. This is a photo of the street we live on. It didn't stop snowing until later on this evening.

Seafood restaurants were everywhere in Sai Kung.

Visiting the fishing village, Sai Kung, just a half hour bus ride from our house. Here, you will see fishermen docking their boats with their daily seafood catches. They even gut the fish for you before you take it home.

Famous chinese winter dish - "poon choy". It's usually when families gather around the table for Chinese New Year celebrations. Most poon choy has roast duck, roast pork, vegetables, radish, soya chicken incorporated into the dish but you can make your own variations.

Homemade chinese new year dessert dumplings in ginger soup. They were tasty!

A day trip to Macau. It was leading up to Chinese New Year so there were lots of festivities happening that day.

Christmas dinner

Christmas dinner was a generous plate full of roast chicken, stuffing, steamed asparagus, roasted potatoes and gravy. We had the same for lunch the next day.

Kevin made a lovely and delicious breakfast on Christmas morning - french toast with berries and a side of bacon.

This year, we purchased our christmas tree just down the road from us. This tree is a non-drop pine tree. It smells lovely and the pine needles really do stay on the tree.

Christine planned a birthday drinks surprise party for Kevin at a gastropub in Blackheath, London. All our friends from his frisbie team and all our friends from Canada joined us for an evening of catching up and drinks and cake and nibbles. Christine baked a double layer lemon and chocolate cake and decorated the party area before Kevin's arrival.
