Home grown tomatoes in October!

We're so pleased how our vegetable garden turned out this year. This tomoto plant started from a little seed and Kevin transplanted them outside. We've enjoyed fresh tomatoes with our salads this year. They're tasty!

Mini break - Lille France

There was a last minute bargain deal train + hotel in Lille, France. So I took advantage and visited one of the prettiest villages in NW France. Very convenient - can hop on the train to visit Brussels and Brugge.

Our honeymoon in Paris

We had such gorgeous weather in Paris. The food was divine and we splurged a little whilst staying at the Four Season's Geroge V hotel. It was amazing!

The Organisational Princess gets married!

Wedding planning from abroad is not easy but we are so pleased how our wedding day turned out in Vancouver, Canada. Everyone had a lovely time and it was a memorable event with friends & family from all across the miles.

Four days before Marathon Day!

All runners are required to register their details and obtain a runner number. This is Kevin with his running number at the entrance of the exhibition.

Here is Kevin standing in front of the Cancer Research UK - He raised over £1000 for the charity.  Fantastic job! Thank you to all who sponsored in London and from abroad.

Inside the Excel Centre.  There were many stands selling sports kits, sports gear, sugar packs, and other little gadgets.  There was also a pasta party that night where we heard some seasoned runners talk us through what to expect on marathon day.

On our way to the START

8:30am on Marathon Day-
Kevin at Blackheath, walking towards the crowds to find his BLUE START.  Kevin was a little anxious about his injured knee but he walked up the hill without feeling any pain so it's a good sign.

Some last minute reading

Kevin is checking to see if he's at the right place for his START.  It was very warm that day so he decided to run without his orange jumper which proved to be a wise decision.  We had amazing weather all day (14-16 degrees).

Sugar packs

A photo of Kevin securing some sugar packs on his running shorts.

Very many well wishes to Kevin before he sets off for this 26miles run (42km)

The START

The START of the marathon in Blackheath (just up the hill from our house) There were 35 thousand runners today raising money for various charities.  The atmosphere was amazing!

Friends cheering for Kevin

Friends from Kevin's frisbie team came and showed their support and also followed Kevin's progress along the running route.  We were able to cheer for him at different parts along the way.  I arranged for some bespoke t-shirts to be made especially for this event to make us stand out and more visible to Kevin as he runs by.

Runners passing the University of Greenwich

Some photos of other runners on that day.

At Pall Mall - meeting area

Kevin was very happy to finish this amazing personal milestone.  I went to find him at the family & friends meeting area.  You can't see it here, but he's wearing his London Marathon medal on his neck.

Relaxing in the reception area

A very tired Kevin still managed to smile at the camera.  It's around 3pm at this point and he's just come out of a massage from the physiotherapist.  A nap is in order for this very exhausted runner.
I'm so proud of you Kevin!  Job well done!

Walking along La Crossiette, Cannes.

This reminded us of Hollywood, California. There were plams trees everywhere.

The temperature of the sea water was too cold for a swim but we dug our feet into the sand anyway. We did see a few locals swimming that morning.

The sea view from our balcony.

The Grand Hotel residence - Cannes

We were so lucky and grateful to have had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful apartment in Cannes. It's centrally located near the beach.

Nice, France

Kevin skipping rocks. We had gorgeous weather - 17- 20 degrees everyday.

Place Massena, Nice

The Place Masséna is the main square of the city. Before the Paillon River was covered over, the Pont-Neuf was the only practicable way between the old town and the modern one. The square was thus divided into two parts (North and South) in 1824. The recent rebuilding of the tramline gave the square back to the pedestrians, restoring its status as a real Mediterranean square. It is lined with palm trees and stone pines, instead of being the rectangular roundabout of sorts it had become over the years. Since its construction, the Place Masséna has always been the spot for great public events. It is used for concerts, and particularly during the summer festivals

This beautiful cathedral has english service and was located directly across from our hotel.

Bistro d'Antoine, Nice

This cozy little bistro served amazing french cuisine and it's a family run business. The original founder is named Antoine. The current owner still has a framed photo of him displayed on the wall. Moderately priced and excellent service.
